At NearSt we’re looking for an awesome back-end developer to join us as CTO in our growing team. You’ll be creating and building upon the tools and technologies used to deliver on our mission: making the world’s local inventory searchable. We’ve made it super simple for any store (even your grandmother’s corner shop!) to connect their inventory to our platform, for nearby shoppers to browse and buy from in real time. We’ve built the foundations for the technology, been featured repeatedly in national press, won a European Startup Competition, and are now looking for a key player in our team to help us scale.
Awesome – tell me more…
You’ll be working in a leadership position, coming up with smart solutions to solve challenging problems, and over the next 18 months growing a development team to work with you. While e-commerce experience isn’t mandatory, it will be a big help as you build and expand our local shopping platform.
Let’s talk details…
There are two main parts to the development role. The first will be improving upon existing integrations with inventory systems and adding new ones, where the main goal is to keep our platform lean and the user experience for shopkeepers as simple as possible.
The second is developing the ‘platform’ element of NearSt, so that any 3rd party can tap into the inventory held in our shops. You’ll be challenged to develop ways for other companies and websites to utilise our data, by building out our API, creating widgets, and developing analytics tools. You will work closely together with the broader team to understand the needs of shopkeepers and partners, and to collaborate on prioritisation and implementation.
Sound like you?
NearSt is on a mission to get people back onto the High Street. We help people to find and buy products in shops nearby, by connecting the inventory of these shops straight to people’s smartphones. Users search for a product they want, NearSt shows them exactly who stocks it nearby in real-time, and allows them to order it for collection or 1-hour delivery in just a few taps.
We're a year old and our technology has already earned us pre-seed backing led by retail accelerator TrueStart (part of True Capital Private Equity), international awards (most recently West European Champions at Get In The Ring), and we're already live and post-revenue in our pilot category of bookshops in London. We're on a mission to get people back into local shops, and rejuvenate high streets around the world.
We're currently moving out of our pilot phase, and into our shop scale-up phase. We're connecting hundreds of new shops in multiple product verticals, and launching our NearLIVE technology platform, that will allow external developers to build location-aware e-commerce experiences.
We have a strong team with previous experience in other start-ups, digital innovation consultancy, and marketing. Learn more about us over at near.st.
